Despite having played part in Express FC’s 2-0 opening day defeat to Arua Hill SC at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, Muzamiru Mutyaba is on his way off to Rwandan outfit Kiyovu SC.

Football256 has learnt that the 28-year-old attacking midfielder will be traveling to the East African country early next week to finalize the switch.

A two-year employment contract awaits Mutyaba who has been brilliant for the Red Eagles in the last few months, especially during their CECAFA Kagame Cup triumph two months ago.

Mutyaba joined Express FC in August 2020 following the expiry of his contract at KCCA, with the club not considering renewal as he had fallen out of favour making him a free agent.

The move to the Mukwano Gw’abangi, where he signed a one-year deal in January 2021, aimed at rediscovering himself paid dividends as he got to be league champion yet again nevermind that he didn’t get enough playing time.

This was the fourth league title for the former Maroon FC academy graduate with his first three coming at Lugogo.

The CECAFA Kagame Cup title on the other hand was his second with the first coming in 2019 whilst a KCCA FC player.

Actually, his incredible part in helping the team conquer the East African region can’t be said enough, that is why it was no surprise that he was the MVP at the tournament thanks to his three goals.

The fact that Mutyaba did not make the match day squad for Express FC’s visit to UPDF FC for a game that happened on Saturday, October 23 without any injury concerns is a clear indication that he is indeed headed out.

At Kiyovu, Mutyaba will join Uganda Cranes captain Emmanuel Okwi who recently joined the club on a short term contract of at least a year.

Kiyovu will be his fifth club, having also featured for Maroons, Victoria University FC (defunct), KCCA FC and Express FC previously.
