It will be a West Nile battle for superiority when league debutants Arua Hill SC host their regional neighbours Onduparaka FC on matchday three of the new Uganda Premier League season slated for Tuesday, October 26 at the Barifa Playground.
This encounter, which promises to be fascinating, will be the first ever competitive showdown between the two regional powerhouses with the Kongolo only a few years old. Two to be exact.
Arua Hill SC approach the game with their confidence sky-high after comfortably dispatching the defending champions Express FC 2-0 to register their maiden topflight win in a first taste of the waters on opening day (October 15).
While speaking to the media in a pre-match interview, the Arua Hill SC assistant coach Sadiq Ssempigi expressed satisfaction in the team’s preparation and confessed readiness for the derby.
‘This is an important game which everyone has prepared for extensively. We will give this game all that is needed to get maximum points. “We expect a lot of positives tomorrow, and we expect to add three more points,” he highlighted.
“After picking up an injury while on international duty, Rashid Toha is out and will not be involved. Geriga Atendele picked up a knock against Express as well but we await to see if he passes a late fitness test this evening,” he added.
Meanwhile, Onduparaka is in decent form after enjoying relatively good results in the opening two fixtures against UPDF FC and Soltilo Bright Stars FC.
The Caterpillars most recently enjoyed a low-key win against the latter in a 1-0 win at the Kavumba Stadium on Friday last week. This was simply a follower to a one-all stalemate against the Army men on the opening day of the campaign.
Onduparaka currently lie fourth on the table with four points while their hosts sit sixth with three points but with just a single game under their belt.
George William Lutalo’s Onduparaka side will hope to use their league pedigree to oust their money bag neighbours who seem to not be taking any prisoners in their approach to their debut season in Uganda’s topflight league.
