Colossal Police FC defender Hassan Muhamood has expressed confidence that their first win of the 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign will come against SC Villa.
This fierce encounter, which promises to come with a lot of rivalry as seen over the years, will be hosted by the Jogoo at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds this Friday, October 29.
A game that presents a perfect opportunity for the Cops to thrive and make amends for their three losses to Vipers, BUL FC and Wakiso Giants with 2-0, 2-1, and 1-0 scorelines respectively. At least Muhamood believes so.
The defender highlighted his confidence that the kind of preparation the team had undergone in the aftermath of their home defeat to Wakiso Giants was sufficient enough to give them the necessary confidence. He spoke to Football256.
“I am confident that our first win will be against SC Villa,” Muhamood stated before adding; “We are focused as a team and all we need are the three points.”
“We have prepared for the game mentally and physically even though the training time has been limited since the last game against Wakiso Giants.”
“The coaches have invested enough time to sharpen the strikers along with improving their ability to deliver in the last quarter of the field. We shall go out there to win and that is our focus.”
The Cops have endured a low goal scoring return, something that is not characteristic of them ever since Abdallah Mubiru took over the head coach role at the club. Muhamood has different thoughts about that.
“We can not only blame the strikers for the lack of goals but rather work as a team to see that the goals come. Anyone should be able to score and help the team win.”
“Last season, I had seven goals which means I can go up to 10 this season. So, it is entirely upon us as a team and we shall rectify it as soon as possible.”
Muhamood maintains that every challenge in the team has a solution and therefore implored his fellow players to work hard on enforcing a solution since the challenge has already been identified.
Meanwhile, both sides have shared the spoils in the last three games. The hosts last won against Police FC in 2018 where Martin Kizza’s lone strike was the only difference between the two sides.
The Cops will however have to search back to 2014, September 30 to be exact for their last home victory against the Jogoos. The game ended 2-1.
