StarTimes Uganda Premier League side Soltilo Bright Stars FC signed Japanese midfielder Kazuto Kushida ahead of the 2021/2022 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season but he is yet to feature pending a license.
However, the good news is that as the Kanyanya based side prepare to host KCCA FC at the Kavumba Recreation Center, Kazuto has been issued with his working permit and will make his debut on Tuesday, November 2 according to head coach Baker Mbowa.
“We have been struggling with the licenses of some of our players but today I can confirm that we have obtained that of Kazuto Kushida and he will play against KCCA,” Mbowa told the club media.
“We are all excited to see him starting to play for us because he is a really good player and I am optimistic that he is going to add a lot to the team.”
“Even though results are yet to come, the spirit of the players is high and we shall continue pushing until we start winning games,” the coach added.
Mbowa, a former KCCA player will be hoping to stop their current good run, as Bright Stars is yet to even register a single point, the Kasasiro Boys have won all their four played so far.
“Yes they have 12 points already from four games and they are a strong team but we are playing in the same league who knows our winning of games could start against them, so we are going to approach the game targeting a win,” Mbowa noted.
It will also be a game against his former employers for Bright Star’s goalkeeper Hassan Matovu who switched from Lugogo to Matugga at the start of the ongoing campaign.
“I will have a point to prove when we face KCCA on Tuesday, I will have to show that I am a good goalkeeper and also still had value and much to offer to the club,” Matovu told the club media.
The last time the two sides met was in the second round of last season and Bright Stars with ease defeated KCCA 2-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo thank to Samuel Ssekamatte and Joseph Akandwanaho goals who have since left the club.
Bright Stars who were brilliant last season when they finished fifth are now struggling after losing all their three games played so far and sit 14th on the 16-team SUPL log whereas their Tuesday opponents are top of the table side on 12points.
