After six StarTimes Uganda Premier League games this campaign, Express FC have managed five goals and only two of those have been scored by strikers.
The club’s top scorer last season with 15 league goals, Eric Kambale has so far netted only one while George Ssenkaaba has also been on target just once.
Defenders Deus Bukenya and Murushid Juuko and midfielder Mahad Yaya Kakooza have bagged the other three, one each.
After the goalless draw against SC Villa on Saturday, head coach Wasswa Bbosa admitted that his forwards are currently not performing to the expectations, but with optimism that they will very soon find their scoring boots.
“I am very optimistic that they (Express strikers) will pick up, let us not forget that they played a lot of games last season, because we did not have enough rest.”
“But as the season goes on, game by game, I know that their form will come back and they will start scoring goals.”
“The best thing is that we are creating the chances and all we need is just to improve on our finishing,” Bbosa noted.
On the other hand, the Red Eagles have conceded six goals so far this season that is a goal on average per game, they have kept two clean sheets and therefore will also need to improve on their defending.
The defending champions have gathered eight points and are positioned seventh on the 16 team log. They will return to action on Friday, November 26 when with a home fixture against inform Wakiso Giants FC.
