Eastern region third division side Mbale Heroes FC have finally officially secured the services of promising youngster Haruna Lukwago.

The sleek forward’s eligibility to feature for the Mbale-based club has previously been under contention, following claims by Mbarara side Rwampara Bulls FC that the player was still attached to their club.

As communicated by Richard Ochom, the chairman, FUFA Players’ Status Committee (PSC), Mbale Heroes completed the due process to aquire the player.

Apparently, the player wrote through the Uganda Football Players Association requesting to be released by Rwampara to Heroes, a wish that was granted.

Ochom, in a note addressed to all the concerned parties formally declared Lukwago a Mbale Heroes player.

“Mbale Heroes has duly fulfilled the transfer requirements by paying the statutory training compensation fees through FUFA,” the note partly read.

“The PSC has therefore released the player to join Mbale Heroes FC in order to allow him continue with his football career.”

Lukwago is an exciting forward who can play on either flanks of the field, behind the main striker, even up-top the field considering the given situation at hand.

The Surgeons, after dishearteningly being relegated to the third division are rebuilding a team to climb back up without wasting so much time.

With Lukwago’s pace and trickery, he could be instrumental in boosting up the Surgeons’ attack led by prolific ex-Villa striker Ronald Magwali.

Mbale Heroes want to return to the FUFA Big League as soon as possible, to facilitate their bigger dream of playing in the country’s premier division.

Lukwago has also previously played for CRO FC in Mbale and the Mbarara City Junior team in the national Junior’s league.
