The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has released the official match ball of the TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with the name Toghu.

In a video made public this November 23 on CAF’s Twitter channels, the Toghu is described as: “Tradition, Ornate, Glory, Heritage and Unity.”

The ball is produced by Umbro and comprises a thick white and stylized by the colour green (the green patches have various designs and patches of colours).

This is a significant cultural achievement for the people of Cameroon and most especially those from the North West Region, where the Toghu originates.

The Toghu has been a jewel amongst many and especially those involved in the Olympic Games as it is a staple.

The TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations gets underway on January 9, 2022, with the Indomitable Lions facing Burkina Faso at the newly constructed Olembe Stadium in Cameroon’s capital, Yaounde. The competition will conclude on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
