Gomba Ssaza will tussle it out with the Buluuli side on match-day three in the 2021 Masaza Cup at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Thursday at noon with a place in the last 16 at stake.

While talking to the press, Ibrahim Kirya, the Gomba head coach noted that the game holds the fate of how far they can go in the prestigious tournament.

“This is our last group game which means the result decides whether we go further or not,” he expressed intent.

“We go into the game with only one target and that’s winning. Our opponents will be playing the second group game, differing from us who are playing the third (last).”

“The boys are well informed of what is required and I have a lot of hope and trust in them that they will surely make it and we get to the next stage because we have been there before.”

Gomba has a fully fit squad and the only doubt stands with captain Juma Lutankome who got a hard knock in their previous game against Kabula.

Ibrahim Kirya’s charges lost 0-2 to Kyadondo in the opening game of the tournament but managed to bounce back in the second with a 3-1 win against struggling Kabula.

Buluuli will come in this encounter off a 5-2 emphatic win over Kabula that saw them display a great style of play though lost a bit of concentration which cost them two goals in the dying minutes.

However Peter Siibo, the head coach of Buluuli was calm to say they will benefit from the three-day rest since they played Kabula on Sunday on the second day of the tournament.

“We have had quite ample time to rest and prepare for the game against Gomba. They are the defending champions and we respect them but do not fear them.”

“In the first game that we played against Kabula, there were knocks here and there due to the physicality in the encounter but I am glad to say the boys are now fully fit.”

“We are not moved by the number of goals managed in the first game. We are only seeing how we keep converting our chances as well as guarding our goal area. Otherwise, I expect a good game against Gomba,” he concluded.

Gomba and Buluuli are tied at three points but Buluuli has a better goal advantage, a difference of one. Both sides are below table leaders Kyadondo by a point.

Ssingo and Kabula will also face off on the same day.
