Soltilo Bright Stars will hope to grind their first 2021/22 Startimes Uganda Premier League victory in a home encounter against another struggler, Tooro United.

The relegation battle will take center stage at the Kavumba Recreation Play Ground on Friday.

Despite an impressive 2020/21 season where they finished a cool fifth on the log, Bright Stars have failed to replicate that form into this particular campaign.

They have so far lost thrice and managed two stalemates, winning none in their opening five bouts, a run that torches extremely worrying times ahead, for the Kawempe based side.

However, interim head coach Simon Mugerwa, in his post-match interview after their barren draw with Busoga United, underlined his team is nearing a full return to their best.

“We are going to try and build on our superb defensive display. The clean sheet (against Busoga) gives us a good foundation to go home and work on how we can get maximum points in our next fixture (versus Tooro).

“We shall correct the mistakes committed in the final third because we need to score goals, we shall fight for the points in our home game.”

Dating back to 2015, in the previous ten encounters, the two sides have managed a whooping seven stalemates. However, Tooro have won twice compared to Bright Stars’ one win.

Tooro are starting life without their now-ex deputy head coach, Steven Bengo who left his role on Tuesday, citing ‘disagreements’ with some officials at the club.

The Fort Portal outfit who sit 15th on the table with four points come off a 6-1 humbling by URA FC on Tuesday. They will view the Bright Stars test as one they can use to bounce back for positive results.
