Gaddafi FC’s newly appointed head coach Peter Onen picked a point in his second game in charge and on familiar territory, the Kyabazinga stadium against BUL FC on Sunday.
Onen who was sacked by BUL in January 2020, returned and picked up a point in a one-all draw with his former bosses in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.
Substitute Alex Kitata scored for the visitors before his goal was cancelled out by Richard Ayiko to deny Onen what would have been a special win over his former club.
The game witnessed a bright start, with both sides threatening for an opener whenever they had possession but could not find a way through in the first half.
Nine minutes into the second half, Kitata who came on as a first half substitute for Faizal Muwawu broke the deadlock, assisted by Brian Kalumba.
The visitors did hang onto their slim lead and when it looked like they had won the first meeting between the two sides, BUL’s Ayiko levelled matters in the 86th and 1-1 it finished at fulltime.
Onen has managed the Soldier Boys for two games now and has earned four points having won his first game against Arua Hill SC 1-0 a week ago.
After salvaging a point, the Oil Manufactures leapfrogged Vipers SC to go second on the 16 team SUPL log on 14 points, five adrift of leaders KCCA FC.
On the other hand, Gaddafi remained eighth with eight points and will host Vipers next on Wednesday, December 1 while BUL will be away to KCCA on the same day.
