Soltilo Bright Stars’ head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa blamed is side’s 4-2 loss in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Tuesday to lack of sharpness with the goal in sight.
Ivan Bogere, Edward Satulo, Pius Kaggwa and a Derrick Ngoobi own goal condemned Bright Stars to their biggest loss this season. James Angu grabbed a brace for Bright Stars.
Coupled with giving away ‘reckless’ and avoidable goals, Mugerwa believes the issue of missing clear goalscoring opportunities has become a continued tale for his side all season.
The tactician underlines that the two facts have cost his team precious points, in the process, condemning them to the relegation zone, in 14th with just five points after seven encounters.
“It is worrying times indeed especially because we have continuously failed to win games that we should be winning,” Mugerwa who is in the position on interim basis said.
“We are giving away cheap and avoidable goals despite keeping two clean sheets in the previous games.”
“What is more worrying is the fact that we create so many opportunities but our finishing is letting us down.”
“Wakiso Giants created only a few of them and scored four goals but we did not yet we created more,” he added.
He however highlighted that they will not tire to seek improvement and Sunday’s game against UPDF FC can not come quicker.
“We have five days to prepare for Sunday and we shall definitely come an improved team,” Mugerwa assured.
Bright Stars have failed to replicate last campaign’s form where they finished fifth on the 16 team log.
