Butambala were held by Mawogola in a 1-1 stalemate in the 2021 Masaza Cup at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Thursday afternoon.

Isiah Sabiiti scored for Mawogola as Blancher Mulamba was on target for Butambala in the third game of Muganzirwaza group.

Mawogola took the lead as early as the seventh minute after forward Isiah Sabiitii’s powerful effort found the back of the net leaving Butambala custodian Fahad Emran stranded.

In the19 minute, Mulumba levelled matters to give Butambala the required goal to bounce back in the game.

On the return of the second half, Mawogola threw more numbers in the final third, pressing Butambala from their own half and it was evident they badly wanted to take the lead.

Five minutes into the second stanza, Swabule Lwandasa replaced Patrick Ouke to add more speed and fluidity in Mawogola’s midfield.

In the 66th minute, Hussein Makanga was replaced by Faizo Wabyoona for Butambala’s first change.

Bryan Kimera came on for Jackson Mayanja for Mawogola while Butambala introduced Jeremy Matanta for Raymond Lusajje but none could change the scoreline by the 90th minute.
