Masaza Cup 2021: Kyaggwe confirm quarterfinal spot with win at Bugerere

Kyaggwe registered a hugely important 4-2 win against Bugerere on matchday three of the Bulange group in the ongoing Buganda Masaza Cup at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Monday.

Gerald Ogweti (penalty), Jackson Ssemugabi, Dennis Kalanzi, David Toko were on the scoresheet for Kyaggwe before Ezra Magambe and Hudson Mbalire found the two consolations for Bugerere.

In the 28th minute, Ogweti converted from the spot past Bugerere goalkeeper Eddy Kalema.

Six minutes later, Ogweti nearly extended the lead but his effort from close range missed the target hence wasting the glorious pass from Kennedy Kirembeka.

Twelve minutes into the second stanza, Ssemugabi extended Kyaggwe’s lead through a spectacular freekick that went over the frozen wall of Bugerere’s men.

In the 65th minute, Felix Ssekabuuza’s charges scored the third through Kalanzi’s header from close range.

With eight minutes to end the game, Toko placed the icing on the cake with a fine effort from few steps into the dangerous area.

Moments later, Magambe scored to award Bugerere a consolation before Mbalire got the second for the side that had struggled throughout the game.

The result means Kyaggwe and Busiro have qualified for the quarterfinals with Kyaggwe having two wins and one draw from the three games played while Busiro have four points from two games.
