Two foreign based players in provisional squad for Asia-Europe tour

Only two internationally based players have been included by Head Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic in the provisional squad that will play five friendlies across Europe and Asia in January 2022.

Custodian Charles Lukwago who plies his trade at St. George in Ethiopia and shot-stopper Isma Watenga who plays for South Africa’s Chippa United are the only players that play outside Uganda included in the squad.

The team also includes Patrick Kaddu who has been unattached to any club since leaving Berkane FC in August 2021. Reports have however suggested he will join KCCA in January.

Uganda will play five matches against Iceland, Botosani and Moldova in Turkey before taking on Iraq in Baghdad and Bahrain in Bahrain city.

According to the FUFA website, the team will set off for Turkey on January 10 ahead of the first bout against Iceland on January 12 in Antalya city, Turkey.

The second game will be played on January 15 against Botosani (in Antalya) and the third match shall come on January 18 against Moldova, in the same city.

The Cranes shall then face Iraq on January 21 in Baghdad city, and finally Bahrain on January 27 in Bahrain city.
