Soltilo Bright Stars’ Director of Football Development, Ivan Kakembo will graduate at the inaugural FIFA Club Management Diploma course in Zurich, Switzerland on May 6th.
The course spearheaded by the world football governing body is meant to develop football world over at club and national levels.
Upon being selected among the only four administrators Africa, Kakembo did not hide his delight, but also pledged to use his acquired knowledge to better football in his mother nation, Uganda.
“I am humbled to have been selected as one of the only four football administrators in Africa and the one only from Uganda,” said Kakembo to Football256 before adding.
“It has been a great year of football knowledge with great presentations by top football administrators from all over the world.”
Kakembo will be graduating with 2006 Ballon d’or winner Fabio Cannavaro, who now serves as head coach at China’s Guangzhou Evergrande is also among the graduands.
Former Arsenal player Phillipe Senderos, who now serves as the Sporting Director at Switzerland’s FC Servette was also part of the course which had representatives from Bayer Leverkusen, Valencia, Brighton and Hove Albion, Genoa and others.
Kakembo vowed to use the knowledge benchmarked to build football in Uganda: “As a football administrator.”
“I will never be the same as I have learned a lot and gained a number of connections and I’m ready to represent Uganda in football administration beyond the borders.”
“I hope to use this same information and knowledge to change the way football is run in the country especially at club level,” Kakembo noted.
Africa’s other representatives gradutating with Kakembo include; Zamalek’s Khaled Refaat, Sydney Kabo Magagane from Township Rollers (Botswana) and Frank Happi from the Cameroon Football Association.
