Uganda Cranes qualified for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals for the sixth successive time after a 3-0 win over Tanzania (4-0 aggregate) at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.

Moses Waiswa, Rogers Mato, and Richard Basangwa were on the score-sheet, but, how did each trade themselves on the evening?

Nafian Alionzi (GK) – 09

Had a quiet first half with little or nothing to do, but was called into action in the second stanza severally. Dealt superbly with all the threats that came his way.

Garvin Kizito Mugweri – 06

Didn’t influence the game in attack, but was quietly steady in defense. A few nervy moments in the second half.

Derrick Ndahiro – 07

A home debut to remember, capped with a clean-sheet. Got booked early and despite being targeted by the Tanzanians, he dealt with the threat soundly.

Livingstone Mulondo – 08

Great outing for the no-nonsense center-back. Had one nervy moment in the second half but otherwise, a rock in a partnership with John Revita.

John Revita – 07

Agile, steady, and calm. Revita didn’t do a lot wrong, apart from a few discomforts when John Bosco came his way. Provided good cover for Ndahiro after the latter’s booking.

Siraje Ssentamu – 06

Quietly offered his usual Ssentamu cover to the backline. An otherwise effective display for the midfielder.

Marvin Joseph Youngman – 05

Caught out of possession on several occasions in the first half, an improved second but hooked off early.

Moses Waiswa – 07

An evening worth it for Waiswa in his preferred advanced role, just ahead of the two-man midfield. Good passing range, well-taken penalty and assisted expertly for Richard Basangwa.

Martin Kizza – 04

Extremely quiet, lost possession, and didn’t influence the game at all. Didn’t justify his selection and hooked off at halftime.

Rogers Mato – 08

By far his best performance in a Cranes shirt. Started as a striker and won the penalty, and scored with an excellent header. Moved to the left of defence and still offered stability – Micho’s John O’Shea?

Milton Karisa© – 07

Offered the usual energy with great pressing in both halves, assisted Mato with a superb ‘cross-pass’, and led his troops to a great victory.

Richard Basangwa – 08

Great energy after coming on at halftime. Added a bit of urgency and an upgrade to Kizza. And boy, what a header for Uganda’s second of the evening!

Ibrahim Orit – 04

Came later on at 3-0, and added a bit of pace but not much to make a sound impact.

Travis Mutyaba – 04

His introduction got the crowd off their seats. A few excellent touches but that was just about it.

Saidi Kyeyune – 04

Good energy since coming on, but didn’t do much to make an impact.

Kenneth Ssemakula – 05

Introduced early in the second half, chased a few blue shirts, and added the much-needed energy levels.

Head Coach: Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic – 08

Scolded for not starting Mutyaba, but justified his selections. Not entirely brilliant football, but his team was efficient on the evening. Got his substitutions spot-on.
