Vipers SC faces an all or nothing affair as they play hosts to leaders URA SC on Wednesday in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The two sides are separated by a single point after 22 matches. URA is on the apex with 50 points, whereas the hosts lie second on 49 points.

Anything short of a win for the Venoms will have the tax collectors consolidate their lead and take another significant stride towards winning their first league title since 2011.

URA has over the years been Vipers bogey side even in the seasons where the former were far from their best.

Since 2013, the Kitende outfit has only emerged victorious on three occasions in 17 meetings. They have lost six times in the process.

It will take Fred Kajoba and his boys a near-perfect performance to beat a side that has also defeated them in their previous two meetings, although both defeats have come away from home.

The first leg saw Sam Ssimbwa’s side come out on top with a narrow 2-1 win courtesy of strikes from captain Shafik Kagimu and former Vipers player Steven Mukwala.

Ceasor Manzoki scored the only goal for Vipers on the day.

Both sides are on two successive league victories: Vipers trumped Myda for four before picking up a confidence-building win away to KCCA FC on Sunday.

They will be looking for inspiration from topscorer Yunus Sentamu(12 goals), who has consistently shined since joining them in January.

On the other side, URA last beat both Mbarara City FC and Onduparaka FC in their last two encounters. The latter victory masterminded by Kagimu and Mukwala.

For the second game running, Vipers have a clean injury slate. However, they will still be without a suspended duo: defender Bashir Asiku and forward Muhamad Shaban.

Cromwell Rwothomio and goalkeeper Alionzi Nafian will be huge misses for Ssimbwa and URA.

The two join Micheal Birungi and Jackson Nunda, who recently had surgery on his knee on the injury list.
