On an evening Kawempe Muslim players thought they would go out and forget about a disappointing season but hope to end it on high, the decision to go swimming was probably the best.

Unfortunately for them, they were subjected to more misery as defender Rehema Adubango died after an electric shock when she was getting out of a swimming pool at Dinners in kawanda on May 31, 2019.

Adubango was part of the Kawempe Muslim’s team that lost 4-2 to UCU Lady Cardinals on Thursday in the semifinals of the FUFA Women Elite League.

It will be the first time the four-time champions won’t be playing at this stage but have a third-place playoff to contest for with Kampala Queens.

The team decided to go swimming as they prepared for the Sunday lunchtime fixture against Kampala Queens and that’s when the tragedy happened.

Despite being at Kawempe for close to six years, Adubango was just part of the team until the departure of Yudaya Nakayenze in 2017.

She is known for the love she had for everyone, a person with joy and always had a smile on her face.

She started playing for the Kawempe Muslim senior team in 2016/17 season and her dream always has been playing for the national team which she has not achieved.

Adubango will be laid to rest at her ancestral home in Zombo on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019.
