While Moses Waiswa prepares to leave the Uganda Cranes camp because of injury, another midfielder Mike Azira has touched base on Friday evening from the USA.
Following the conclusion of the Major League Soccer (MLS) season on Wednesday, Montreal Impact midfielder, Azira has joined the Uganda Cranes Camp in Abu Dhabi.
Azira was part of Montreal Impact’s side that came from a goal down to defeat Seattle Sounders 2-1 thanks to Saphir Taider’s brace.
Mike Azira has played 16 games for Montreal Impact this season, recording one assist.
Sebastien Desabre summoned 27 players in his provisional squad to camp in Abu Dhabi for further preparation before trimming it down to 23 that is required for the final tournament.
With the exception of Waiswa, 25 players are now in camp, KCCA FC goalkeeper Charles Lukwago who was with the COSAFA team in South Africa is likely to join the team on Thursday.
