The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has presented the official ball that will be used for the forthcoming 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations in Cairo, Egypt.
The balls were manufactured by England based sportswear company Umbro who announced their new partnership agreement with CAF, which will see the iconic sports brand become the exclusive ball supplier for the tournament.
“We’re pleased to be the official ball suppliers for this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. The 24 participating teams will be using our FIFA certified Neo Pro ball,” Umbro posted on their official Twitter handle.
The brand-new ball’s creativity takes inspiration from the perfect Egyptian flag colors of art which are Red, White and Black.
As the exclusive ball partner, Umbro will supply CAF with the top-level Neo Pro ball FIFA certified to be used at the highest level of the game.
The Neo Pro features a textured Teijin Microfibre outer casing for durability, accuracy and true flight dependability.
“We couldn’t be prouder and more honored to have been selected by CAF as the official supplier of the match ball for the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2019,” Tom Grzelak Head of Brand at Umbro Middle East and Egypt said.
“The tournament being played in Egypt will further reinforce Umbro’s brand presence in the country. Fans will be able to purchase the official replica ball in selected sports stores in Egypt and UAE,” he added.
The ball has a five-layer construction with a latex bladder for a consistent bounce, and a hand-stitched 14-panel design with sealed seams to ensure zero water absorption.
Keeping up with a longstanding tradition of supplying top level balls to major tournaments around the world, Umbro has most recently supplied the Coupe de la Ligue ball in France and the official ball for the Liga Nacional de Futsal in Brazil.
The tournament which will be played for the first time throughout June and July with 24 nations competing, will kick off on June 21st with Egypt taking on Zimbabwe in the first game.
Other official sponsors of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations includes 1XBet, Visa, Continental Tires and Yamaha.
