Egypt have already qualified for the round of 16 at the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations but that’s not good enough according to coach Javier Aguirre.
Ahead of their last group game against Uganda, the tactician from Mexico is looking at all three points to top the group with maximum points.
“We want to be in the first place in the group, we are going to name the best team we can, win our game in the group stage and go for the next round,” Aguirre told journalists on Saturday morning.
Its on that background that he plans to field the strongest team available contrary to what he had said after their 2-0 win over DR Congo and they are not here to favour other teams in the group.
“I am going to try to put the best players, I don’t plan to make many changes, we have players on the verge of suspension but I won’t change entirely maybe one or two changes.”
“I don’t care about other teams in the group, we want to get nine points and wait to see who to face next,” Aguirre added.
The 54-year-old coach however knows the danger Uganda poses, having won once (against DR Congo) and draw the other (against Zimbabwe).
“It’s going to be a tough game, they (Uganda) are good in set pieces, very organized, they are fighters.”
“We have to try to keep the ball, we have to create the spaces but also be cautious at the back because they seem to be good at counter attacks,” he added.
Uganda and Egypt will play at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday June 30th at 22:00hrs, at the same time Zimbabwe will take on DR Congo at the 30th June Stadium.
