Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama insists that Kenya are under no pressure heading into Sunday’s 2019 Total African Cup of Nations match against Algeria.
After a 15-year absence from the continental showpiece, Stars will be making a comeback to the tournament and their first group C assignment will be against the North African nation.
In an interview, Wanyama said that the team is currently under no pressure. He stated that the team was under pressure during the qualification phase.
“I don’t think we are under pressure. We were under more pressure during qualification,” Wanyama said on Saturday before adding.
“Here we are out to enjoy the game and most importantly show that we are not pushovers.”
The Hottenhan Hotspurs midfield further stated that the team will give its best against who are the favorites heading into the game.
“Algeria is a good team. We respect them but on the pitch, we are going to fight. We will try to make it difficult for them,” he added.
The match will kick off at 11pm EAT after Tanzania had played Senegal on 8PM EAT.
