Kenya national team striker Michael Olunga believes that Kenya can overcome Senegal and qualify for the Round of last 16 at ongoing 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Harambee Stars will lock horns with the Lions of Teranga in the last game of group B at 30th June Stadium on Monday July 1st.
The Sebastien Migne coached side is looking to register a victory over Senegal in order to progress to the knockout stage for their first time in history.
“Senegal is a team like any other. They are human beings and are bound to make mistakes,” Olunga was quoted by The Standard Newspaper in Kenya.
Olunga scored two of Kenya’s three goals in their 3-2 victory over their counterparts Tanzania on Thursday.
The Kashiwa Reysol forward is hopeful they can refabricate Thursday’s performance against Africa’s top-ranked side.
“If we play as we did against Tanzania, then I trust we will get the three points and advance to the knockouts,” he added.
In five attempts, Kenya have never progressed to the Nations Cup knockout stage and a victory over the 2002 finalists would secure a slot to the next stage.
Algeria, who are already through to the next stage on six points after beating Senegal 1-0 and Kenya 2-0 will take on Taifa Stars in the other Group C match on the same day.
