Senegal’s captain Sadio Mane will make his maiden appearance at the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations against Algeria on Thursday at the June 30th Stadium.
Mane missed Senegal’s 2-0 win over Tanzania through suspension and his return can only spur the Lions of Teranga against the Desert Foxes who also defeated Kenya by a similar margin.
It’s anyone’s game to take with a round of 16 tie in sight for the winner, Mane revealed the team is in the right mood.
“We are preparing well, we know they will be tough but everything is possible with Senegal, we will do our best to win this game,” Mane said on Wednesday.
“I looked at the first half of the game against Tanzania, it’s a good team, we played well. The victory was well deserved and I think we also dominated the whole game and created a lot of opportunities. We scored two goals.
Senegal are hoping 2019 can be the year they get the monkey off their backs and win a first Nations Cup in 16 appearances.
