Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne has named his final 23-man African Cup of Nations squad that will leave for Egypt for the biannual showpiece without experienced midfielder Anthony Akumu.
The Zesco Untied midfielder was one of the 27 players who traveled to France for Pre-AFCON preparations and was one of the four axed players.
Akumu the former Gor Mahia man has been a key player for Kenya in the last few years but has seen limited play-time under the French tactician.
Migne prefers Dennis Odhiambo- Victor Wanyama partnership at the middle of the park and Akumu has been deemed surplus to requirements.
Injured pair of Brian Mandela and Chris Mbamba will sit out of AFCON together with Portugal based Clifton Miheso.
Despite carrying minor injuries, Romania based, left-back Abud Omar has been named in the final squad as well as Musa Mohamed who got injured during the match against Madagascar last Friday.
Surprise inclusions include, US based Joseph Okumu, Vihiga United’s Bernard Ochieng and rookie Sofapaka striker, John Avire.
