Uganda ascends to the top of Group A after a mouth-watering performance that yielded a 2-0 win over The Leopards in the second match of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday at Cairo International Stadium.
It all started with nervousness as the Congolese were all buzzing with lots of confidence to the extent of having fun at the training ground with their trademark dancing and singing.
All this played in the Cranes’ favour as they managed to play the ‘no pressure game’ well embracing the underdog status.
It was Farouk Miya’s assists that showed how Cranes were so dangerous in set pieces as it yielded two headed goals from the two forwards; Patrick Kaddu and Emmanuel Okwi.
KCCA FC’s Kaddu put the Cranes ahead just before the quarter hour mark, he rose highest to brush home Miya’s corner.
That was followed by a couple of forward going displays which saw Miya, Okwi and Mike Azira all miss from outside the area in moments the Congolese had succumbed to pressure.
Just three minutes into the second half another Miya set piece was headed home by the Simba forward Okwi to make it 2-0 for the Cranes.
After that, it all looked like the Cranes had killed this off as it was all up the opponents to come to it but with the good work from the captain Denis Onyango.
Uganda managed to see off their opponents in one that will come out to be one of its best performances at the Nations Cup in a long time.
