The former Lions of Terranga skipper was speaking ahead of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 fixture between the two sides at Cairo International Stadium on Friday, July 5th.

“It’s (Uganda) a strong team, and they have great capabilities when it comes to defence,” Cisse noted in the pre-match press conference before adding.

“It’s the round of 16 and we are aiming to reach the quarters, it’s been two years of working to reach this moment, we are really prepared to work and reach our goal.

Going into the game against Uganda, Senegal have already faced defeated connivingly defeated two African countries in Kenya (4-1) and Tanzania (2-0), that seems to be in the past for the former midfielder.

“Each game has different characteristics, we should play and adapt to the game and perform the way we can, this is going to be a special game.”

“The games against Tanzania and Kenya were different in approach, and we know Uganda also has a different style, they have players like Kaddu who can also play in Europe,” he added.

With the most Nations Cup appearances (15) Senegal have just one final to show, they lost to Cameroon in 2002 3-2 on penalties after the barren draw in Bamako Mali.
