Harambee Stars’ striker Michael Olunga believes the national team is now ready for the 2019 Total African Cup of Nations after featuring in two build up matches.
Kenya downed Madagascar in their opening friendly match a fortnight ago before settling for a one-all draw against Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday.
In an interview, Olunga who scored Kenya’s goal against DRC said the team has prepared well for the tournament and is now ready to take on opponents in the tournament.
“We have had good preparations and the results against Congo are very positive. It means we are ready to take on our opponents and we promise to give it the best shot.”
The Japan based striker further urged fans to back the team ahead of the tournament. He further called for patience noting that it will take time for Harambee Stars to achieve success.
“It is a long journey to the top and we urge our fans to rally behind the team. Success does not come any easy and it take time for us to achieve it,” he added.
Harambee Stars is currently in France for pre-AFCON preparations, they will depart for Egypt on Wednesday 19th June.
The team is pooled in group C alongside Senegal, Algeria, and Tanzania. Kenya’s first match will be against Algeria on 23rd June.
