On the eve of their second 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations game against Uganda, Zimbabwe have been hit by a big blow, midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has been ruled out due to injury.

Nakamba has joined striker Nyasha Mushekwi who also missed the chance of representing his country in Africa’s biggest football showpiece due to injury.

Zimbabwe’s team manager Wellington Mpandare reported that Nakamba’s absence will be a big blow to The Warriors as they are preparing for a battle against Uganda Cranes.

Nakamba was outstanding in the middle of the park against Egypt during Zimbabwe’s opening game despite going down 1-0.

“With the team that we have, with the way that we are playing, I think if we can give everything and try our best, nothing can stop us. I think it’s possible for us to go to the next stage in the tournament,” Nakamba was quoted after their loss to Egypt.

“We have done it in the qualifying stages where a lot of people thought we wouldn’t qualify. And now we are here, anything is possible in football,” he added.

Zimbabwe are looking forward to collecting maximum points from Uganda Cranes if they are to stand any chance of making it to the knockout stage of the tournament.

A win for Uganda will book them a slot in the round of last 16, it will also send Zimbabwe back home though with a game at hand.

Uganda tops group A along with Egypt on three points while Zimbabwe and DR Congo are yet to register a point.
