AFCON 2021: Zimbabwe ‘Warriors’ aim to go past group stage

Zimbabwe surfaces in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations for a third successive time, and they have high hopes to go past group stages.

The ‘Warriors’ have not gone beyond group stages in the AFCON since their first debut in 2004.

However, caretaker head coach Norman Mapeza expects his team to put up a better performance this time around.

“All the teams present at the AFCON are aiming for the title even if only one team can do it. AFCON has shown that there is no small team,” Mapeza told the media.

Zimbabwe expects efficiency from forward Tino Kadewere who plies his trade in Lyon, defender Tenage Hadebe of USA’s Houston Dynamo and forward Knowledge Musona of AL Ta’ee in Saudi Arabia.
