Cameroon’s chances of making to the 2019 U17 FIFA World Cup have brightened after their 2-1 win over Morocco at the ongoing 2019 Total U17 Africa Cup of Nations at Chamazi Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
Ismaila Seidou scored two second half goals in the 73rd minute and added time to put the semifinals also in touching distances for Cameroon.
Tawfik Bentayeb had scored for Morocco earlier in the 22 to put the Maghreb in the driving seat but it wasn’t enough to secure them a win.
Cameroon displayed superb performance on the day compared to Morocco, they had eight shots on target compared to Morocco’s three which was an illustration that they came for maximum points.
Cameroon also won their first game with a 2-0 victory over Guinea courtesy of Steve Regis Mvoue and Leonel Wamba Djouffo’s strikes.
Meanwhile, Morocco was left with minimal qualification chances after their one all draw with Senegal but Cameroon were the hungrier side.
The result also means that Morocco must win their last group B game against Guinea on Sunday if they are to stand any chance of keeping themselves in the tournament.
Cameroon will play Senegal in their last game needing just a point to advance to the semifinals and U17 World Cup.
