There is a new twist and revelation in the claims that Guinea are fielding over aged player at the ongoing 2019 Total U17 Africa Nations Cup.
Senegal U17 head coach Malick Daff opened the lead after his side failed to qualify from the group stages of the competition at the expense of Guinea who he claimed used over-aged players and with different identities. According to reports, the players in question are Abubakar Conte and Ahmed Tiani.
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) had even lodged an official complaint to CAF late last week challenging the two Guinea players legibility to represent their country at the competition.
But CAF dismissed the complaint on grounds that Senegal didn’t back up their complaint with enough evidence as they could not get copies of the passports used at the U16 tournament in Japan two years ago.
On Wednesday, the Japanese Football Federation has produced to CAF that actually the two Guinean players lied about their age.
According to the evidence presented to CAF, the players in question featured for Guinea at the U16 International Dream Cup held in 2017 in Japan under different names and age.
The Senegal Football Federation have threatened to forward the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) if CAF fail to react by disqualifying Guinea as they have enough evidence this time around.
Guinea made it to the finals of the U-17 AFCON on Wednesday after beating Nigeria 10-9 on penalties after a barren draw in normal time.
Guinea will play Cameroon who defeated Angola 4-3 also on penalties after another goalless affair in normal time.
Guinea, Cameroon, Angola and Nigeria have all qualified for the 2019 U17 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.
