Maybe they have never won the Libyan Premier League or have one Libyan Cup to show off, Al Hilal SC is one that has tried to keep tabs with the big boys of Libyan football.

As the country has struggled to find its feet again after being affected by war for the last decade or so, Sports and football, in particular, have also been affected

And Al Hilal SC is one of those sports institutions that have been hit the hardest, but they are not about to give up.

In one of the ways to find the feet again but also probably get higher than they have been, the club employed Hossamedin Bedier as a sports director, a first in the club’s history.

Bedier of Egyptian origin is also part of their marketing team and his target to make sure Al Hilal SC regain their lost glory and re-establish the club as one of the best in the country.

“AlHilal is one of the oldest clubs in Libya with a huge history but the club suffered difficult circumstances during the last decade as the whole football industry in the country,” Bedier told Egypt Today.

According to the Egyptian site, Bedier, a FIFA/CIES Official Certified Sports Manager, has been one of the talented young Egyptians, he played a massive role in the organization of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Bedier’s successful work and passion for sports took him west where he will work inside one of the biggest clubs in the city of Benghazi.

“AlHilal is not just about sport. We are focusing on connecting with the people of Benghazi and the development of the city through sports equally with the improving of the club’s teams in different sports,” he noted.

And Bedier has gotten down with work already, as his new home organised a club friendly with one of East Africa’s most successful clubs Gor Mahia.

The game that ended one all was played at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi and was the match their since the ban was lifted on Libya to host an international game for foreign clubs or national teams.

“We started with an important initiative and now officials in Libyan sport need to invest as well,” Al Hilal’s vice president Fowzi Gaouda noted.

“So that the Confederation of African Football will look at such events and take serious measures because Libya deserves to play at home,” he added.

With the 2018/2019 cancelled, Al Hilal SC are other football stakeholders will hope that the 2019/2020 season that starts in December will be a beginning of a fresh chapter as Libyan football aims at getting back to its feet again.
