Goalkeeper James Alitho and defender Derrick Ndahiro are very near to being confirmed URA players. Negotiations have been going on well, and both the deals are as good as done, Footbal256 can confirm.
Whereas there could still be a slight hitch in Alitho’s, Ndahiro’s move to URA is surely a ‘done deal.’ Almost all the requirements between the two players and the club have been met, only yet to be officially confirmed.
For an undisclosed fee, the pair is set to be announced sooner than later by the Nakawa based club. The towering goalkeeper returns to the club for a second stint after a disastrous time away with Zanaco in Zambia.
Upon his return, Alitho is expected to immediately retain his number one spot in goal for URA from Nafian Alionzi.
Meanwhile, sleek, versatile defender Ndahiro conveniently comes in for URA to fill the void left by experienced Brian Majwega who is believed to be on his way back to KCCA for a third stint.
Ndahiro joins from an SC Villa side that has struggled with both results on the pitch and endless backroom staff troubles regarding finances.
If confirmed, the pair will join the recently announced youngster Simon Baligeya on the newcomer’s list. Midfielder Julius Mutyaba also this month chose to renew his contract for three more years.
The taxmen had a remarkable 2020/21 season but unluckily missed out on the league title by just a point to Express. URA is now regrouping and recruiting to fight back, as they also prepare to return to continental football.
