He’s without a doubt convivial in nature! From singing along to local chart bangers to dancing to traditional songs via his social media platforms, Allan Kateregga is a handful.

Fondly known as the “Dancing Rasta” an alias he says he earned due to his silky moves, Kateregga shares how his alias was born.
“I earned the nickname while I was playing in Kenya because of how I used to weave and dance my way through defences as I will”.

The Cranes winger who is now on the books of Lubumbashi based DRC outfit FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo recently helped guide his club to the group stages of the CAF Confederation cup a feat he’s proud of and can’t wait to get going.

“It’s a great opportunity playing with potentially the best in Africa. The draw is as good as it gets and I am excited to go back to South Africa and also face other teams” he stressed.

Lupopo is placed alongside South Africa’s Marumo Gallants, home to countrymate Ismael Watenga, Algeria’s USM Alger and Libya’s Akhder but Kateregga believes they’re up to the task.

“Our target this season is to win the Championship and also go as far as we can on the continent. With players like Yusuf Mulumbu with whom I’ve learnt alot, I believe we can do well”. He added.

Allan Kateregga who has managed two assists in seven games so far started in 2013 at Sports Club Victoria University (now defunct) before crossing over to Kenya where he turned out for Kenya Revenue Authority, Tusker FC and AFC Leopards.

He then in 2017 had a brief spell at KCCA FC before joining Cape Town City FC then Maritzburg United, Erbil FC in Iraq and now at Lupopo where he arrived in 2021.

The Dancing Rasta was also part of the Uganda Cranes squad that played at the 2019 AFCON in Cairo Egypt.
