Allan Okello was the main act on Sunday afternoon as Lango province defeated Tooro Province 1-0 in the FUFA Drum semi-final return leg to advance 3-2 on aggregate.
The solitary strike was converted by KCCA FC forward Allan Okello from 12 yards in the 42nd minute.
This was after URA FC center-back Benjamin Nyakojo fouled Lango forward Denis Omedi in the forbidden area leaving the center referee Vincent Kavuma with no option but to point to the spot.
Booma FC’s Denis Omedi (Lango Province) who was named man of the match says it’s a great achievement for Lango province to reach the FUFA drum final and that emphasis will be on ensuring they win it.
“It wasn’t an easy game but we wanted it more and that’s why we’ve advanced to the finals. I also thank our fans who motivated us since we were playing at home,” Omedi noted in the post-match interview on FUFA TV.
The FUFA Drum final which will be the third edition is scheduled to take place in January at a date to be announced and it will be a two-legged final.
Lango province will host the first leg before West Nile hosts the return leg to determine a different FUFA Drum winner for the third edition in a row.
West Nile province reached the finals by edging defending champions Acholi province 2-1 on aggregate.
The two last editions in 2018 and 2019 were won by Buganda Province and Acholi respectively whilst the 2020 and 2021 editions were canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
