The President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick has shown support for Mamelodi Sundowns president Patrice Tlhopane Motsepe’s bid to become the next CAF President according to a source close to Kick442.com.
This was further confirmed by the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) President, Danny Jordaan who said that Nigeria has already prepared its official letter of support for Motsepe.
Danny says he has been talking to Pinnick for quite some time, about the bid. He says Nigeria was the first country, besides SAFA, to prepare an official letter of nomination.
Botswana and Sierra Leone have also done the same. Amaju Pinnick who was touted to also contest for the race according to this development might not be contesting for the CAF top post.
This Pan African news portal had earlier reported that the South African billionaire Motsepe, is set to declare his interest in the African football’s top job.
The 58-year-old businessman with a net worth of $2.4 Billion has finalized formalities to enter the race.
Motsepe, is the third candidate in the race, following the likes of incumbent Ahmad Ahmad from Madagascar and Ivorian administrator, Jacques Anouma.
