Dundee United FC’s head coach Jack Ross has been left off his toes over the finishing abilities of Sadat Anaku.
After impressing at the club on trials, the youngster was acquired from KCCA FC, and he has officially been unveiled on a two-year contract.
“He is a really good finisher,” Ross was quoted by the club’s website before adding.
“This will offer something different to the attacking options we already have at the club, that gives the squad a good balance.”
“I have been impressed with him since he came in, you have to have a certain mental toughness to come in from overseas and settle.”
“Sadat has done that by leaving a really good impression on the players and staff at United.
“He has a real hunger and drive to try and succeed in European football and sees this as a real opportunity to do that,” he added.
During his trials at the Scottish club, the 21-year-old showcased his qualities against three U21 sides from the English Premier League, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Leicester City, and scored against the latter.
“There is an element of the unknown about him but we can see he has real potential,” Ross further noted about Anaku.
“That element of unknown can help us because defenders will not know what he is about and he is not easy to play against from what I have seen in training.”
“Hopefully he can capitalise on that element of surprise and get off to a good start.”
“If he can hit the ground running and score quickly then things can fly from there.”
The KCCA development side graduate bagged a hat-trick in Dundee United B’s 6-2 thrashing of Queen’s Park on Tuesday.
After an impressive run in the KCCA Junior team where he scored 83 goals in 52 games of the FUFA Juniors League, Anaku was promoted to the senior team in 2019.
In three seasons with KCCA FC senior team, he has scored 22 goals in 67 games, a fair return for the teenager.
On the other hand, Dundee United has had a poor start to the new 2022/23 Scottish Premiership season.
They have registered a single point from four games and they are positioned 11th on the 12-team log.
Dundee United will return to action on Sunday, August 28 at home against the defending champions Celtic.
