From the Uganda Hippos team that reached the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations final in Mauritania in 2021, only Ivan Asaba and Isma Mugulusi have been summoned to the new squad.
Then, Uganda lost 2-0 to Ghana and they will now embark on a fresh journey to the 2023 U-20 AFCON in Egypt, starting with the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers in Sudan.
Head coach Morley Byekwaso has summoned a provisional squad of 33 players from which he will select a team to take to Sudan for the qualification campaign that starts on October 22nd, 2022.
KCCA FC has the biggest number of players in the squad, five to be precise.
The team that will enter camp at the Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisasi on Wednesday also has four foreign based players.
Mugulusi, who recently joined Makedonikos FC in Greece will be joined by Unegbu Shemen Orakwue, Lioyd Tendo Nsambu, and Tuma Basil Tenywa from Huston Dynamos FC, FC Metz Academy, and Reading FC respectively, as the only foreign-based players.
The team will head to Sudan as the defending champion of the CECAFA Zonal Qualification Campaign after winning the title in Tanzania.
That is how they qualified for the finals in Mauritania in 2021.
