Awany is KCCA FC’s best as Mutebi names new captain

On a night when KCCA FC manager Mike declared Charles Lukwago as the new captain of KCCA FC to be deputized by Julius Poloto and Mustafa Kizza, the club’s awards’ night belonged to Timothy Awany.

Awany wasn’t only voted as the Fans’ player of the season, the skipper who delivered KCCA FC’s 13th league title was also voted the Philip Omondi Player of the season.

Awany join former teammates Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Joseph Ochaya who won the award in 2017 and 2016 respectively.

“I am really honored and humbled for this recognition,” Awany said in his acceptance speech before adding.

“I want to thank my fellow players, the coaches the fans because this wouldn’t have been possible without all of you.”

The awards returned since 2017 after missing on the club’s activity calendar of 2017 had Mustafa Kizza being recognized as the Jimmy Kirunda Players’ Player of the season.

New skipper Charles Lukwago walked away with the Tom Lwanga Most Disciplined player of the season while U19 sensation Ibrahim Juma won the Jackson Mayanja Young Player of the season.

The night was graced by the KCCA executive director Andrew Kitaka together with the Lord Mayor who also doubles as the patron of the KCCA FC Erias Lukwago.
