KCCA FC ended URA FC’s unbeaten run in the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League with a 1-0 victory over the taxi collectors at Namboole Stadium on Tuesday.
KCCA FC skipper Timothy Awany scored the lone goal in the 56th minute with a powerful shot after URA failed to clear a corner.
“I am disappointed that we have lost our unbeaten run, because I thought we would go all the way,” URA coach Sam Ssimbwa told www.football-256.com.
“We were a better side before the goal but after conceding we switched off, We also don’t have clinical finishers upfront but we shall go back to the drawing board” a disappointed Ssimbwa added.
Thirteen minutes into the game URA’s Allan Munaaba and goalkeeper Nathian Alionz could have gifted KCCA the lead due to poor communication but Munaaba safely cleared the ball to safety.
The visitors kept on pilling more pressure, Allan Okello could have scored had he directed his shot at goal but it went wide.

The midfeilder’s action summed up the first period that was largely dominated by URA but didn’t do enough in the final third.
After the break, KCCA continued to push for an opener which duly came in the 56th minute through Awany who took advantage of URA’s poor clearance from a corner kick.
URA tried to get back into the game with a Moses Seruyide freekick which forced a Lukwago Charles finger tip save with 16 minutes left.
URA’s Shafick Kagimu also forced a save from Lukwago after his shot was tipped over the bar in the 80th minute.
“It was a tough one, it’s actually one of the most challenging games for us this season. URA were an organized team and had a good approach,” KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi said in the post match press conference.
The win takes KCCA to 29 points, seven ahead of second placed Vipers who have two games in hand.
