Speaking ahead of his side’s home encounter against Mbarara City, Wakiso Giants head coach, Douglas Bamweyana feels confident that his team is good to go for it all in the second round of the 2020/2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The purple sharks were below average for the biggest part of the first half of the season racking up only two wins from 15 games, drawing a worrying 10 times while losing thrice.
But Bamweyana remains positive that his side can still turn around their indifferent run this season starting with Friday’s fixture at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
“We are feeling confident going into tomorrow’s game, we have polished a few issues. We should now get a consistent run of results and positive ones at that,” Bamweyana said.
Wakiso Giants will miss talisman Vianne Sekajugo who is serving a four game suspension for unsporting conduct during their game against Kitara in March.
Bamweyana also confirmed that his squad is not overwhelmed by injuries but midfielder Rahmat Ssenfuka who returned to training this week may not be ready for the game.
“Generally, the entire team is available apart from a few players, Ssekajugo misses out following the unfortunate incident at Kitara.”
“We have a couple of players who are just returning from injuries and are not yet ready forexample Ssenfuka is training but not ready,” stated Bamweyana.
Wakiso who have been handed the unwanted the tag of ‘draw masters’ lie 12th on the log with 16 points, with their visitors only two points behind them in 13th.
With both sides hovering dangerously so close to the relegation zone, victory for either team should come as a huge push towards assured survival.
