SC Villa Head Coach Douglas Bamweyana is happy with his team’s display on Saturday in their opening game of the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League against URA despite not getting the result they wanted.
The League record champions lost 1-0 to the tax collectors at Namboole, centre back Patrick Mbowa got behind Said Kyeyune’s corner to score the all-important goal in the 38th minute.
“I am happy with my boys’ performance because everyone tried to work hard for three point. We were the better team on the day but the victory went on the opposite side, we were just unlucky,” Bamweyana told www.football 256 before adding.
“We are still working on very many things in our squad, like coordination between our players. You will probably see the team’s exact image during our next game.”
He however accused the federation for its failure to clear some of his new acquisitions in time which somehow denied his team victory.
Bamweyana named four substitutes on the day and not the traditional seven because some of their players they signed were yet to be licensed.
“We also lacked some of our players because they were not cleared in time to play. I expected these players to play part in this game but they couldn’t play because of the deferral in clearance by the federation,” he added.
The loss now sees SC Villa sit 13th, two points off the red zone on the 16 team log with 6 losses from 16 games, they have only managed two wins and eight draws.
