StarTimes Stadium at Lugogo is the only place to gather at this Thursday when table leaders KCCA FC host defending champions Vipers SC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, a game that is the talk of town.

Only four points separate the visitors from the hosts on the league table, a winner of Thursday’s clash will have higher chances of winning this season’s title as KCCA FC will widen the gap to seven while Vipers hope to narrow it to one.

“We have prepared well for the match, we shall be positive minded and coherent, we are taking this game very seriously because we want a win it,” KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi said in the pre-match press conference.

“Personally, as a fan, I expect a very good game. As a coach, we shall play ‘Our way’, we do not want to play ordinarily under pressure. When KCCA defeats Vipers, the road to winning the championship will be softened. We shall have 90 percent chances,” he added.

The two sides played to a one-all draw when they met at St Mary’s stadium in the first round, with Dan Muzeyi Serunkuuma scoring for Vipers before Filbert Obenchan equalized for KCCA.

Saddam Ibrahim Juma missed a second-half penalty that would have probably changed the equation of the game.

KCCA FC have managed two wins, two draws and one loss from their last five encounters while Vipers have managed three wins one draw and one loss from the same number of fixtures.

When the two sides met at the same venue last season, KCCA FC triumphed 3-1, Shaban Muhammad scored a brace, Derrick Nsibambi grabbed the other strike for KCCA, Viper’ only goal was scored by Yayo Lutimba.

Mike Mutyaba is a doubt for KCCA after getting a knock during their win against Kirinya-Jinja SSS while Julius Poloto is ruled out of the match due injury.

“Mike Mutyaba got a knock during the away win against Kirinya-Jinja S.S in our last match. We hope he passes the late fitness test.”

“I promise some surprise faces and the young striker Sadat Anaku will play having had his full-time debut,” Mute added.

For Vipers, Livingstone Mulondo, Fabien Mutombora and Karim Niyigizimana are all available for selection while Bashir Ssekagya and Geoffrey Wasswa remain the only long term absentees for the Venoms.
