Not even the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic could stand in Express FC’s way as far as preparing for the future and more so the new season is concerned.
The Red Eagles have potentially swayed over a couple of neutrals for the exciting work they have done over the duration of the lockdown with the club re-strengthening their secretariat.
The six-time league winners have also had a squad revamp amidst the rebuild headed by Wasswa Bbosa.
The mission at Express is simple; ‘start winning silverware’, and not in five years, but in the short term.
Bbosa has not shied away from the ambition either, with the coach pleased with the newfound level of organisation at the club which he believes could be a catalyst for even bigger things.
“I have been at Express for a while but I have never seen such level of organization,” Bbosa said as the squad returned from a retreat held at Lakeside Camp-Resort from November 20 to November 22
The retreat was funded by the club’s sponsor Betway Uganda who have just renewed their sponsorship with the club for UGX 400m.
“I am glad and happy that this retreat was a success and I know this will go a long way for us having a successful season, it was one of a kind,” the club’s CEO Isaac Mwesigwa noted.
“We have organized this retreat to ensure that the players get a different environment as we prepare for the new season and I am sure we have achieved our goal.”
“Work, discipline and focus and am sure we’re getting silverware at the end of the season,” MWesigwa added.
A lot of good stuff has been done so far in a short period of time at the club which has left many yearning for the new season to start to catch a glimpse of the ‘new Express’.
All the 18 new faces at Express including Uganda Cranes defender Murushid Juuko were part of the bonding session.
According to the draft UPL fixture, Express will kick-off their season away to Onduparaka FC on December 5, two days after the 2020/21 campaign officially gets underway on December 3.
