Former Vipers left-back Dan Birikwalila is bitter and gutted with how newly-promoted StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions Arua Hill SC released him after a successful season.

Reports indicate that Arua Hill SC is set to terminate contracts of up to 16 players that were part of the squad that played in the 2020/21 FUFA Big League campaign s which they emerged winners.

Birikwalila notes that after the Big League final last Tuesday, the players were promised to be presented with the plans for next season, but he has not seen anything official apart from the coach removing him from the club WhatsApp group.

“I was removed from the WhatsApp group by the head coach,” Bilikwalila told Football256 in an interview.

“Coach (Livingstone) Mbabazi released a list of players he is ready to work with, and he noted serious business was to start today (Monday), but then I happen not to be among those.”

“According to what I know, we are close to 16 players who played Big League that are leaving the club. The coach informed us that we are not in his plans, and we ought to accept that.”

“I have a running contract with Arua Hill SC, and it has one year left. Though I am now sitting at home because the coach is not ready to work with me going forward,” he added.

“We were on good terms with the club and previously trained well in preparation for the Big League final, which we managed to win, but then this changes the whole situation.”

According to the former Vipers SC defender, whenever a new coach comes to the team, there is a lot of expected to change, including the structure of the squad, but he reckons it has to be done professionally.

According to the West Nile sports website, some of the players that have been released include, Rashid Agau, Mike Kawooya, Mujahid Baden Ogama, Sabir Simba, Franco Oringa, Isaac Mulindwa, Samari Ajobe, Paddy Muhumuza, Oscar Agaba, Rajab Kakooza, Aggrey Kirya and Birikwalira.

What is the way forward for the experienced left-back?

“I asked have asked the club where I am supposed to get my release form, but they all went silent on me. I also asked about my compensation, but the CEO and the club chairman refused to reply,” Birikwalira said.

“So that is it. I am not sure of what is next, but I have no problem with the club. All I request for is to be released officially following the contract specifics.”

“I am ready to work for any club that would be interested in my services because playing football is my job, and I am ready to work.”

“I know by the end of this week. I will have finalised everything with the club so that I see what happens next for my career.”

“I am disappointed because I have not been appreciated for the work I have done. I played most of the games, helped the club come to the top tier, but all I have got is to be released,” Birikwalila concluded.

Birikwalira played 12 games in regular season, missing only two of the 14 played in the Elgon group, and climaxed the journey with the Arua based team with the Big League final played against Tooro United FC.

Football256 understands that some of the survivors of the ruthless slasher are; Richard Anyama, Aggrey Atandu, Gaddafi Gardinho, Kawaawa Rashid, Ade Brian, Alfred Leku, Muhammed Rashid and Allan Mugalu.

The club has so far acquired new entrants in Rashid Toha, Samuel Ssekamate,Yusuf Ssaka, Junior Adama, Faizul Ibrahim and Gadaffi Wahab and Ivan Eyamu.
