Borussia Dortmund II defender Herbert Bockhorn will have to wait a little longer for his Cranes debut after he picked up an injury while featuring for his club in Germany according to Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre.
Bockhorn joins Denis Iguma who was also ruled out for injury and was replaced by Ethiopian based midfielder Chrysostom Ntambi.
“We now have two players injured, that’s Denis Iguma and the Dortmund player Bockhorn,” Desabre told journalists on Wednesday at Lugogo.
“He was injured this weekend with his club and he needs 10 days to rest so it won’t be possible to join us this time”
“Tomorrow (Thursday) I will give another name of the player to replace him, might be a local or foreign-based player,” Desabre added.
On the list of the injured players is Onduparka captain Rashid Toha much as it has not been made official, he moves on crutches.
Desabre is working with the locally based players until Sunday when they play a regional tour (practice match) against a Kampala select side.
Then a group of nine will be named to join the now 14 player foreign-based players for a camp in Ismalia in Egypt
Uganda lead Group L on 13 points and have already booked the ticket for the final tournament in Egypt.
But the game against Tanzania on March 24th in Dar Es Salaam won’t be a ceremonial tie, Desabre and his skipper Denis Onyango badly want to keep a clean sheet.
That would make Uganda the only side to go to Egypt without conceding a goal in the qualifiers.
