Samuel Ssekamatte and Emmanuel Loki scored as Soltilo Bright Stars FC came from a goal down to defeat Express FC 2-1 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Kavumba Recreation Centre on Tuesday.

That was Bright Stars’ fourth consecutive win since losing 2-1 to SC Villa on match day 15.

Express led at halftime thanks to Ibrahim Kayiwa’s header off Issa Lumu’s free kick in the 41st minute but it could later turn to be a disastrous second half of the game for Wasswa Bbosa’s side.

Baker Mbowa’s coached side who missed a penalty at the stroke of halftime when Express’ custodian Mathias Muwaga saved Ssekamatte’s effort from 12 yards, returned hungrier, pressing for a leveller.

But they had to be patient until the 76th minute when Simon Ssemayange assisted Ssekamatte’s equalizer. Ssekamatte who is in fine form, was netting his ninth goal of the season.

With the game headed for a draw, drama unfolded in the 87th minute, Loki heading home Ssemayange’s corner kick to complete Bright Stars’ come back.

Prior to Tuesday’s game, Express had just lost once the entire season, however they have now endured a poor start to the second round of the season.

The Red Eagles have not won in their four games played, they have lost twice and drawn twice.

A win took Bright Stars up to sixth on the 16-team log with 29 points from 19 outings whereas the six-time SUPL champions remained third on 37 points, six points adrift of leaders Vipers who are on 43.

Mbowa and his boys will host URA FC on Saturday, April 24 while Express have a huge determinant fixture in as far as their title credentials are concerned when they visit Vipers on Friday, April 23.
