Bugiri De School’s newly acquired forward Boban Kaggwa has come out to stress the need for unity at the club, especially in these tough COVID-19 times as they fight to gain promotion to the FUFA Big League.
Kaggwa is among a quartet of players that joined the Bugiri Boys as they prepare for the yet to start 2020/21 Eastern Regional League.
The experienced forward signed a one-year contract at De School joining the club from Jinja Municipal Council (Jinja Hippos) football club.
“I am so much humbled to sign for such an organised club with big dreams and ambitions. De School will be the start of yet another chapter in my career,” Kaggwa told Football256.
“I call upon my teammates to stay united as a team because that will help keep us stay focussed on our streamlined goal,” he added.
The Bugiri based club failed to reach the Eastern Regional League play-offs, finishing third on 25 points in the 2019/20 season before the season was prematurely cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
Goalkeeper Isaac Bewayo, midfielder Sadat Mukisa and winger Abdul Mbaziira are the other new recruits for the club, and Kaggwa hopes that the new additions can add the extra spark to ensure promotion.
According to Kaggwa, the management of the team has availed much of the required resources and says that the job to secure promotion now lies with the team and the coaches.
“As a player, I can’t say it’s upon me to take the club in the Big League that’s why I called for unity however I believe I will do all it takes to help the team achieve its dream.”
“The team is made up of focused and talented boys who are ready to take on the battle and manoeuvre to the Big League next season.”
“The coaches and management at large have done a great and tremendous job to prepare the boys and seek for full fitness and I can say we can’t wait to get back to action.”
Kaggwa has previously played for Nyamityobora FC, Sadolin Paints, Masaka Local Council FC, Iganga Town Council FC, Kampala Junior Team FC, Bugembe United and Jinja Municipal Council FC.
