Jinja based Uganda Premier League side BUL FC have officially announced the signing of striker Samuel Ssekamatte from Arua Hill SC.
Ssekamatte joins BUL on a two years contract that will see him at the club until 2025.
“BUL FC complete the signing of Ssekamatte” read the club statement on the club website.
He comes in as a direct replacement for Karim Ndugwa who joined Vipers SC earlier this month.
Ssekamatte, joined Arua Hill in their debut season in the top flight last season from Soltilo Bright Stars but he didn’t live up to the expectations as he struggled for goals.
He scored five goals and seven assists in one and half year spell with the Livingstone Mbabazi side.
He previously featured for Masaka LC where he started his career, SC Victoria University (defunct), KCCA FC, Bright Stars and Arua Hill. He also had a stint at Red Arrows in Zambia.
Speaking to the club media after his unveiling, Ssekamatte promised to work tooth and nail to see that BUL returns to the continent.
“I believe in the project and I have a good relationship with the coaches here. I want to contribute as much as possible to the expectations of the coaches and the club.”
“BUL competed in the Confederation Cup this season and I want to work hard to get this club back to the continent,” he added.
BUL manager Alex Isabirye noted that he won’t put unnecessary pressure on his new signing and he believes he will do the job needed.
“Ssekamatte is a good striker who can score goals, create chances and he is the right player we can sign now,” Isabirye told the club media.
“He will absolutely add something to the team and I believe he will do the job but I will not put pressure on him,” Isabirye said.
BUL’s first competitive match this year will be in the Uganda Cup which they will hope to defend, as they travel away to Buganda Regional League side Sparks SC on Monday 30th January at Kirondo playground in Mukono.
As they are preparing for the second round, BUL are second on the log with 27 points after 14 matches in the first round.
BUL will host Blacks Power FC at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru on Friday 10th for their first game in the second half of the season.
